OVERVIEW
Materiel logistics is the through life management of materiel to achieve the stated requirements of defence capability managers. It is a multi-disciplinary approach to the planning and management of materiel's logistics elements. It combines the life cycle disciplines of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Supportability Analysis to provide a comprehensive approach to the development of sustainable and supportable mission systems and their support systems.
Successful achievement of this qualification requires the self-directed application of knowledge and skills, with substantial depth in some areas where judgement is required in planning and selecting appropriate equipment, services and techniques for self and others.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working in a public sector, procurement, or project management environment
- Sound communication and analytical skills
- Access to a computer and internet connection for online study.

COURSE STRUCTURE
This qualification is delivered through four modules focused on developing practical logistics and materiel management capability:
1. Establish Logistics and Sustainment Requirements
Learn how to interpret logistics requirements, understand operational support needs, and prepare effective logistics and sustainment plans within workplace environments.
2. Manage Supply Chain and Inventory Activities
Develop skills in inventory management, warehousing, resource coordination, procurement support, and supply chain operations across Defence and industry sectors.
3. Support Operational Logistics Performance
Gain practical knowledge in monitoring logistics activities, managing risk, maintaining compliance, and supporting efficient operational and sustainment outcomes.
4. Evaluate and Improve Logistics Operations
Learn how to review logistics performance, prepare operational reports, identify improvement opportunities, and strengthen supply support and materiel management processes.

ASSESSMENT
Assessment is conducted progressively throughout the course and includes:
Knowledge-based questions
Scenario-based activities
Practical contract management tasks
A final assessment to demonstrate overall competenceAll assessments are reviewed and marked by a qualified assessor.
Students who demonstrate competence across all modules will be issued a Statement of Attainment for TLI50422 Diploma of Materiel Logistics.
